Our landlord decided recently that he was going to have our house painted and fix up a few boards on the walls and the deck that looked a bit dubious – no doubt to justify a hideously big increase in rent in a few months time.
We don’t have a particularly large house but the work took about 6 weeks all up for anywhere up to four painters at a time to complete …. And they still have to come back in a couple of weeks to paint the roof.
Now these particular guys were not the sharpest tools in the kit by any means but I am at a loss to understand how they could possibly manage to paint every window in the house shut. I suppose I could understand to an extent if they had painted the whole place before we noticed but we spoke to them after they painted the first window shut but during the time they were here they progressively jammed all of them – and every time we asked them to un-jam them we were met with the same blank expression, as if we were speaking a completely foreign language.
In the process of their ‘work’ they also managed to paint part of the deck that had been half demolished by the carpenter – it looked very nice with the new paint , just a pity some of it was missing !
They also managed to leave most of the windows covered in paint spray and overlook sweeping the front deck so that it was clear of leaves and saw dust before they threw a coat of paint on it.
The business the LL hired is based in Ipswich so that could explain it to some extent ( sorry if anyone from Ippy is offended by that – I did live there for a few years at one stage though so I kinda know what I’m talking about) but I would think that anyone with even a glimmer of common sense would be able to figure out that if it is bad to paint one window shut then to paint all of them shut would be far from appreciated.
Maybe I am expecting too much ???
